One of the World’s Largest Tissue Manufacturers Expands in Southern Nevada

LAS VEGAS — With the assistance of the Las Vegas Global Economic Alliance (LVGEA), one of the world’s largest tissue producers—Sofidel America Corp.—is expanding operations in Southern Nevada. Projected to create 67 new jobs in the region over the next five years, the manufacturing company was approved for incentives today by the Board of the Governor’s Office of Economic Development (GOED).

Taking advantage of growth opportunities in regional and national markets, the company plans to increase its facility from 213,378 sq. ft. to 546.480 sq. ft. The expansion will involve transferring its existing production lines, adding three new state-of-the-art production lines and employing staff in the areas of operations, warehousing, distribution and support staff.

With operations in seven U.S. states, Sofidel America Corp. produces more than one million metric tons of tissue paper each year. This will be the tissue paper manufacturer’s second expansion in the state, having successfully expanded its Nevada facility previously in 2014.

“The LVGEA published a Target Industry Validation Study last year that identified manufacturing as a leading target industry for Southern Nevada.  The manufacturing sector exploded in the region last year, and the LVGEA sees this trend continuing in 2018,” said LVGEA Chief Operating Officer Jared Smith. “With advantages such as a ready workforce, a strategic geographic location, a business-friendly cost environment and an affordable high quality of life, companies from many diverse sectors are choosing Southern Nevada as the premier option for their Western expansions.  We are proud that companies like Sofidel continue to expand in the region.”

In 2017, the LVGEA assisted in the expansion and relocation of 36 companies, which is projected to create more than 5,600 new jobs for Southern Nevada over the next five years.
