Bizconnect

BizCONNECT is a regional business retention and expansion program which business owners can use to access resources and connections in Southern Nevada. This one stop shop of public sector resources also focuses on connecting the educational pathways in the community to local businesses, aiding in the workforce improvement through apprenticeship programs and more.

By bringing together regional public and private partners, BizCONNECT addresses businesses’ problems while educating local and state leadership about the unmet needs of our regional business community. The goal of the program is to continually improve the local business environment so that companies will grow and create jobs, hence improving unemployment levels and circulating more money within the local economy.

Workforce and Training Programs

CSN

The LVGEA partners with CSN to help connect companies with essential training resources. CSN utilizes this information to help inform the Manufacturing Skills Training Program. CSN’s Division of Workforce & Economic Development is offering a training program that is designed to provide foundational manufacturing skills for local employers and the training requirements for the Tesla/Panasonic Gigafactory. Training will involve a hybrid of online, in-class, and hands-on experiences.

Workforce Connections is a publicly funded organization with a mission of “Connecting Employers to a Ready Workforce.” It serves as an intermediary between employers and the community to fill jobs in Southern Nevada. Businesses can access labor and job training resources from Workforce Connections. For job seekers, the organization offers job training, education, and employment opportunities. Workforce Connections is the Southern Nevada Workforce Investment Board and has the responsibility of providing Nevadans with the proper tools that will assist them with finding employment.

Silver State Works is a program through Nevada JobConnect, providing employers up to $2,000 per employee in incentive reimbursement or training allowance for each state-qualified employee.

Department of Employment

The Nevada Department of Employment, Training, and Rehabilitation (DETR) is a public organization that provides job training and placement; workplace discrimination education; and workplace and economic data. DETR provides many of these services through its partnership with the Nevada JobConnect system, which facilitates job placement opportunities with Southern Nevada employers.

Employment Security Division (ESD)

The Employment Security Division (ESD) provides comprehensive employment and training services to Nevada businesses and workers. Employment Service programs offer job placement and training opportunities that assist businesses in meeting their employment needs and job seekers in returning to work through the state’s workforce investment system.

Rehabilitation Division

The Rehabilitation Division is composed of three bureaus, which include Vocational Rehabilitation, Services to the Blind and Visually Impaired, and the Bureau of Disability Adjudication. All of these services are designed to address assessment, training, treatment, and job placement for Nevadans with disabilities.

State of Nevada Veteran’s Hiring Program: The Nevada JobConnect system places the highest priority on providing a variety of employment services to Veterans of U.S. military service. This program provides no-fee employment services to veterans.
