Henderson Company K2 Energy Solutions Expands

A local advanced battery manufacturer is growing its local operations with plans for a $32 million capital expansion and employment of 29 people at its headquarters in Henderson.

K2 Energy Solutions, Inc., stated that it considered Austin, TX; Phoenix, AZ; Albuquerque, NM; and several sites in Utah, but chose to remain in Southern Nevada because of the state’s favorable business climate and state tax incentives.

The company was founded in 2006 in Henderson, Nevada and is growing due to strong performance and increased demand for its proprietary battery technology. The company was recently awarded a large federal contract for developing parts of the Navy’s electromagnetic railgun.

The Las Vegas Global Economic Alliance worked with the City of Henderson to assist K2 Energy Solutions, Inc., in its expansion plans. The LVGEA also assisted the company in preparing an incentive application for the November meeting of the Governor’s Office of Economic Development’s Board of Directors.
